“I begin with nature, then translate its color, texture, and energy into abstraction.”
– Orna Feinstein
Based in Houston, Texas, Orna Feinstein creates abstract works rooted in close observation of the natural world, especially trees and their internal structures. Through printmaking, sculpture, and installation, she transforms tree rings, growth patterns, and organic forms into layered compositions that explore time, repetition, and transformation.
Biography
Orna Feinstein creates abstract works inspired by the internal structures of trees and the visual language of the natural world. Working across printmaking, sculpture, and installation, she translates growth patterns, repetition, and organic structure into compositions that are both restrained and dimensional. Her background in science informs a precise, experimental approach to material and process.
Feinstein earned a BFA in sculpture from the University of Houston and a diploma in printmaking from the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, following earlier studies in chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her work is held in museum and institutional collections internationally, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Library of Congress; the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts; and the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art, Dallas.
“My work begins with close observation of nature, especially trees, and then evolves into abstraction through layering, structure, and experimentation. I am interested in how organic forms can become dimensional, how materials can carry memory, and how process can reveal something both precise and alive.”
