Arte Gallery presents Between Earth and Sky

Featuring Jake Trujillo, Brandon McKenzie, and Sasinun Kladpetch

DALLAS, TX — October 2026 — Arte Gallery is pleased to present Between Earth and Sky, a group exhibition featuring Jake Trujillo, Brandon McKenzie, and Sasinun Kladpetch. Opening October 24, 2026, the exhibition brings together painting and sculpture in an exploration of landscape, atmosphere, material, and the ways place is remembered, transformed, and felt.

Through three distinct practices, Between Earth and Sky considers the natural world not simply as scenery, but as an emotional, physical, and imagined space. Jake Trujillo, Brandon McKenzie, and Sasinun Kladpetch each draw from the visual language of landscape while expanding it through abstraction, color, material, and personal perception.

Jake Trujillo’s paintings are rooted in the landscape of Santa Fe and the American Southwest. Working in oil and acrylic, he transforms familiar vistas into luminous, atmospheric scenes alive with saturated color. His vivid sunsets, darkened skies, and shifting horizons move between observation and invention, offering landscapes that feel both recognizable and surreal. Trujillo is a Santa Fe–based artist known for contemporary landscape paintings that merge traditional landscape sensibilities with abstract, expressive color.

Brandon McKenzie approaches landscape through reduction, rhythm, and restraint. Informed by the expansive rural terrain of his native Kansas, his minimal abstract paintings use a limited palette—often black, white, and subtle tonal shifts—to evoke the geometry, distance, and quiet movement of open land. McKenzie’s layered compositions explore the relationship between people and the Earth, allowing traces of revision and accumulated gesture to become part of the work’s visual language.

Sasinun Kladpetch extends the exhibition into three dimensions with sculptural works that bring organic and industrial materials into dialogue. Her earthy forms examine the intersection of nature, architecture, and urban life, revealing the subtle presence of the natural world within constructed environments. Through materials that can include ceramic, concrete, moss, soil, resin, and found elements, Kladpetch creates tactile works that give physical weight to the exhibition’s consideration of land and place.

“In Between Earth and Sky, landscape becomes more than a view—it becomes a record of atmosphere, memory, touch, and transformation,” says the curator. “Jake Trujillo, Brandon McKenzie, and Sasinun Kladpetch each begin with a sense of place, yet move beyond description to reveal how the land can be felt: through luminous color, quiet reduction, and tactile material presence.”

Installed together, the works create a visual passage from earth to horizon to sky. McKenzie’s restrained compositions offer pauses of stillness and structure; Trujillo’s paintings introduce intensity, light, and emotional charge; and Kladpetch’s sculptures ground the gallery in texture, form, and material presence. The exhibition invites viewers to encounter landscape as a changing field shaped by observation, imagination, memory, and human intervention.

Between Earth and Sky opens at Arte Gallery on October 24, 2026, and will remain on view through December 1, 2026.
